Default Ok, now I am worried!

This was one of the questions during a Gamespot interview with Jeff Strain:

GSUK: So, any plans to bring the Guild Wars series to the PS3?

And here is his answer:

JS: There are no definitive plans at this point. We are still evaluating our options. But we certainly have a lot of console fans...

Honestly what do you guys think? I really don't think GW should go to consoles... it would dumb down the gameplay... I'm scarred at the fact that he didn't say no!

It won't. They aren't allowed to say flat-out "no," due to legality and chance that they can put GW on PS3.

It's PR doublespeak. ArenaNet is pretty damn good at that.

Yeah what he said. It's common practice by game developers (and probably most businesses) to "never rule out anything" regarding future products.
If you ask Epic studios about if they're going to bring Unreal Tournament 3 to the Gameboy, you'll most likely get a "we weren't planning to, but you never know" type answer.

I think it would actually be a pretty good idea for them to peruse something like that.

That's a trivial reason to be worried about... ^^;
The chance of seeing GW going on console is very slim...

But for GW2, who knows... but I dun't think it will be so bad if ever they go through with it... There are already lots of kids that play GW... Dun't forsee any big change in mentality of players or things of the sort happening because of console players... Or they probably gonna release another game for Console players which ressemble Guild wars... in other words, lots of possibilities.

Just relax, it's probably just a rumour at this period. Better prepare yourself for GWEN in the meantime, coz it's looking really good. The new trailer gave a lot of promising spoilers

they don't have a remote semblance of QA to launch a console title.

here's a question to all you consolers: now that the current gen consoles are mostly played online, do they regularly patch games online? Or is it more or less, what you get out of the box is what it will always be?

because.....if Anet is held to a standard to release a bug-free and balanced game on the outset, we can all share a big laugh

Yes, there is frequent patches, though more of it is just added content. The newest Resistance update added worldwide servers and a few other things, while MotorStorm added a time-attack mode.

I would like more Guild Wars games on other systems to flesh out the lore of the universe.

That would definitely rock.

1 player RPGs would be fine on other systems..

Gw on a console would just me weird imo. How would you set up all the skills and and use them, theirs not enough it was be kind of confusing with the amount of buttons on a controller. But if Anet needs the money they could go for it then.

First MMO to hit the consoles..me like!

We only stand to benefit in getting more players (especially if where the first) and a intresting new way of playing MMO's with a controller.

I hope they go Xbox though, not PS3.

I kinda doubt they would even go to console... but there isn't any reason not to put it on ps3. BTW I know with the ps3 you can use a keyboard, but I don't think you can use a mouse.

I'm sure if Sony threw enough cash at anet they would, but it wouldn't make sense for anet to plan a console version on their own free will. Specially when GW can run on older pc's.

Plus who doesn't own a pc? Its not like theres a huge population out there with next gen consoles and no pc.

One thing that comes to mind is of course the controls. Sure you could have skills preset to all the buttons, but about monking? That would suck.

Only the Wii could pull it off with its controller. The others would have to adapt to some form of mouse and keyboard control.

Plus I'm pretty sure with the current gens online capability's updates would be no problem.

I could see GW 2 being on both pc/console only cause its still in development. And who knows what kind of pc req it might need.

But as for the current GW, its runs on almost any pc and just about everyone has a pc, not alot of people own Ps3's.

heres an idea: dont play it. why would it scare you? if the controlls suck, stick to the pc. would it really be that bad if more players started playing the game?

Nope FFXI started as a console mmo years ago, the pc version came out after.

People also dopnt seem to get that consoles have harddrives now, and even regular games get patched here and there, Just Like FFXI got all the normal patches on the ps2 all the time. Man people are always scared of something they havent tried yet.
